On the road to Twickenham–Round four preview

The fourth rounds of the RFU Cup competitions are being played today and there is still quite a bit of interest for Eastern Counties with clubs from Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk involved.

The big Cup game locally is at Newmarket where they play Norwich in the semi-final of the London & South East section of the RFU Senior Vase.  The extra incentive is that the winners play the final at their home ground against either Maidstone or Folkestone who will have two to three hours travelling to contend with.  On league form Norwich should win but Cup games can cause upsets. UPDATE: I should have read the fixture dates properly – this game isn’t until 25 February!

In the RFU Junior Vase Southwold are at home to Cantabrigian.  Cantabs are unbeaten in League and Cup competitions this season and must fancy their chances of getting into the London quarter finals.

One place below Cantabs in Eastern Counties One is Wisbech having only lost the one game to the leaders so far.  They are at home to Essex side Billericay, lying third in Essex One and Wisbech should be favourites to join Cantabs in the quarter final draw.
